Decks

home back yard decks
You wish to have a deck in the back yard of your house. But you are not sure that you want to place it there. Where do you even start? It must all be too much confusion for you. Is there any Do It Yourself guide for these things? I can relate to the fact that you can barely decide on these things. You don’t know where to put the deck. You don’t know how a deck is built. You are not even sure why it’s built. You just want one on your property. Let’s see the different types of decks together.

Attached
A typical spot to place an attached deck is an at the back of your house especially if you have an L-shaped house. One of the major uses of an attached deck is the connection of the exterior doors. Another pro of having an attached deck is having more outdoor living space. You can even add a roof to it and make it spot to relax for the whole family. An attached deck usually is made of wood and it should not take more than one day to be completely built.

Detached
A detached deck is placed on the outside of the house; anywhere you see it reasonable to put the deck. A detached deck is the opposite of an attached deck and it is mainly used only as an outdoor living space, like maybe a place to stay during nice weather and have a barbecue. You can have a path connecting the detached deck to the house or the attached deck. One of the major pros of a detached deck is it’s tolerance to the terrain being able to be built on most kinds of rough terrain. This is because this deck is built above the ground so is more adaptable.

Multi-Level
If your house is in the woods, maybe like a large vacation home or simply put, the terrain of your house isn’t favorable and you are standing on high leveled ground, then you might want to have a multi-level deck. They are made out of wood for one reason. It’s way easier to build them and adapt them to the terrain then building them with concrete. A multi-level deck is a great connector between your house and the ground and the extra levels can be used as living spaces also. You just have to have a roof for each of them.

Swimming Pool
Concrete is hot and more likely to burn your feet when it comes to having a deck for your pool. Concrete floor can also be too slippery. That is why when having a swimming pool; a wooden deck is a perfect option for you. The deck can be overlaid with a finishing product to avoid getting splinters on your feet. The deck makes access to the pool easier and it is more relaxing to place a chair there and enjoy the day.
